Guests rarely remember a spotless rental, but they always remember a dirty one, and they say so in reviews. The fix isn't working harder on each turnover; it's working from the same checklist every time.
Start with a quick walk-through before cleaning anything. Note damage, missing items, and anything left behind so you can report it to the host right away rather than discovering it later.
Strip the beds first so the laundry can run while you clean. Then work top to bottom: dust high surfaces, wipe counters, clean appliances inside and out, and finish with floors so you aren't walking dust back into clean rooms.
Bathrooms deserve the most attention. Hair on a towel or a ring in the tub is the fastest way to a one-star review. Clean, sanitize, restock toilet paper and toiletries, and lay out fresh towels the same way every time.
Finish by staging the space: beds made to the host's standard, remotes and guidebooks in place, thermostat set, trash out, doors locked. A consistent finish is what makes the listing photos match reality, and that's what keeps ratings high.
